Reforestation in Albergaria da Serra, Arouca

The site selected for reforestation is a community land, located in the parish of Albergaria da Serra, Arouca and district of Aveiro. It is integrated in the Freita sub-region of the PROF-AMPEDV – Metropolitan area of Porto and Entre Douro and Vouga Regional Forest Management Plan, in the Freita forest perimeter and in the “Serras da Freita e Arada” Natura 2000 site. 

 

This project aimed to consolidate a reforestation that took place in 2008 within the “Núcleos de folhosas autóctones Serra da Freita” project.

 

Total area of this intervention is of 5,62 ha, divided in 4 plots. The main goal of this intervention is to reduce competition around the young trees, by clearing surrounding vegetation, substituting dead plants and fixing fences wherever necessary.
