The site selected, reforested in 2010, is a community land, situated in the parish of Candal, São Pedro do Sul, district of Viseu. It is integrated in the Terras Altas e Paiva homogeneous sub-region of the PROF-DL – Regional Forest Management Plan for Dão Lafões.  This mountain site is predominantly covered with spontaneous vegetation (heather, furze, carquesia).

 The site occupies a total area of 2 ha. The tree species selected for reforestation were cork oak (Quercus suber), pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica),  birch tree (Betula celtiberica) and ash tree (Fraxinus angustifolia).  We used tree shelters to protect and increase the success of the seedlings, considering the presence of livestock that uses this land for grazing.
