This project site is a community land (Santo António), situated in the parish of Tangil, Monção, district of Viana do Castelo. This mountain site is predominantly covered with spontaneous vegetation (gorse, fern and scotch broom).
This site has a total area of 9,50 ha. A contract between the Conselho Diretivo de baldios de Tangil and ACHLI was signed for this project. During the validity of the contract several management actions will be carried out to improve habitat conditions. The first intervention was to plant the whole area with native tree species, pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica) and birch (Betula celtiberica). The area was previously fenced to protect and increase the success of the seedlings, considering the presence of free grazing livestock on neighbouring areas.
