The wolf monitoring plan South of the Douro River (PML-SD) surveys of the Arada, Cinfães, Montemuro, Leomil, Lapa and Trancoso and Penedono zone wolf packs, which was begun on previous wolf monitoring plans, under ACHLI’s responsibility.

With this monitoring plan we intend to achieve the following goals:
- Monitoring and analysis of population and spatial dynamics;
- Assessing impacts that result from factors that cause habitat disturbance, such as wind energy projects;
- Assessment and proposal of conservation measures;
- Overall assessment of the region’s wolf population.

ACHLI is responsible for the general coordination of the project and the scientific coordination and execution is ensured by two distinct teams:
• Research Center in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources of the University of Porto (CIBO-UP)
• Biology Department of University of Aveiro (DBio-UA)
