Projects

WOLF  FUND
Over the next three years (2017/2019), within the scope of the Wolf Fund, ACHLI intends to develop a series of projects that will positively contribute to the conservation of the Iberian wolf habitat.

All projects will take into account actual status of the wolf packs within the target areas, as well as the socioeconomic surrounding, which in many cases is essential for project success.

At this time, ACHLI defined two target zones: South of the Douro River and Alto Minho.

2017/2019 projects:

  • Forest management
  • Restricted hunting zones
  • Minimization of wolf impacts
  • Roe deer reintroduction
  • Public Awareness
  • Wolf monitoring plans

WOLF MONITORING PLANS
The effectiveness of our projects depends on how much we know about the wolf population in our target areas. This knowledge is made available through wolf monitoring plans. ACHLI promotes these plans on wolf territories where wind farms have been implemented.

The primary purpose of monitoring plans is to collect information that enables us to determine how much impact a wind farm can have on the wolf population that occurs on the site and surroundings of the wind farm.

The data collected also allows us to define where and what are the most suitable projects to develop in our target areas.
